There are many reasons as to why people go through Christian therapy. There are many therapists who practice other forms of therapy, but for many, they prefer this method of practice. If you wonder why, we have some of the reasons here for you.

One of the first reasons that many go through this model of counseling is because this type tends to offer more hope and encouragement. Other types of therapy will tell you how to piece things back together, but those who go to a Christian counselor find that they offer you more structure, they genuinely care about you more. They aren’t so much doctors, but you tend to see them as best friends.

Another reason is that those who have a Christian background are convinced that when they go to a Christian therapist or counselor, they are going to someone who will not discard or be insensitive to the basic beliefs they were raised with. Prayer for example is one of the things that they ask be included in the sessions. They might also include your pastor and so forth.

The other reason that people go to a Christian counselor is because of the fact that they believe that a Christian counselor will help them grow. People who have problems want to learn how to grow from them personally and on a spiritual level. When they do this sort of counseling, they find that this is what they gain from it.

Some find that with Christian therapy, they learn other things that secular therapists don’t even suggest. One of the topics might be forgiveness. There are many things that they teach that a therapist might suggest, but they don’t counsel with what you want to hear, but what it is you need to hear before making an uninformed decision. It goes back to the whole idea they are open to offering other

suggestions and sharing their feelings and support as well from the Word of God.

Last of all, this has been seen to strengthen your relationship. They have a lot more training and most of that training is done in order for them to learn to connect with individuals and how to minister to them. They understand the trichotomy (body, soul and spirit) of the person and are more apt to be considerate to what the clients real needs are Biblically.

It has been seen that those who go through Christian counseling have a better chance at getting back on track to where they were. They have a better success rate than others; which is what many seeking spiritual counseling want. Most of the best recommendations you might get from counselors in your area, might just be from those who practice Christian therapy.
